Who We Are
Forward Africa (FOFA) is a non-profit, multi-disciplinary development organization founded in 1992 and formally registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Abuja in 1995 under the Company and Allied Matters Act of 1990.
Headquartered in Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria, FOFA works to improve lives and strengthen communities by mobilizing local human and material resources and building grassroots
capacity to address pressing development challenges.
Since its inception, FOFA has championed community-driven solutions in health, agriculture, climate change, youth empowerment, gender equality, and good governance. Over the years, our initiatives have reached thousands of Nigerians through projects supported by Ford Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, USAID, PIND Foundation, UNICEF, Chevron, and NDI, among others.
At the heart of our work is a belief in partnership and participation — empowering individuals and communities to identify needs, take action, and build sustainable systems that promote equity and social justice.
