Forward Africa launched its first stakeholders' meeting for the "Supporting Sustainable Climate Change Literacy and Flood Prevention Awareness" program,
gathering key partners from the Imo State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Environment, Primary Health Care development Agency, Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), Climate & Sustainable Development Network (CSDevNet) South East Zone, National Orientation Agency, the Media and leading coalitions of civil society and environmental organizations in the state.
The meeting featured a thorough overview of the program, insightful input from attendees, and an engaging Q&A session, ensuring clarity on each partner’s role.
Specific responsibilities were outlined, covering activities at the local government level.
This collaborative platform showcased the dedication of all stakeholders, each pledging commitment to protect flood-prone communities by raising awareness and equipping residents with crucial climate change, carbon literacy and net zero information.
A key highlight was ISOPADEC’s pledge to support flood victims in Oguta and Ohaji Egbema, the areas most affected by climate-related disasters in Imo State.
Their promise of assistance reinforces the program’s goal to mitigate flood risks, enhance community resilience and prevent future occurrences.
Forward Africa is thrilled to partner with such dedicated organizations to empower vulnerable communities with the tools and knowledge they need to adapt and thrive amidst the challenges of climate change.
