Vision

At Forward Africa, our Education Programme addresses a critical and measurable development gap: the exclusion of millions of young people in Southern Nigeria from quality, relevant, and future-ready education.

In Nigeria today, over 10 million children are out of school, with a growing concentration in low-income and peri-urban communities across the South-East and South-South.

Among those in school, over 70% lack access to skills-based, digital, or climate-relevant learning, leaving them unprepared for employment, entrepreneurship, or civic leadership.

Without urgent, targeted investment, these gaps will continue to fuel youth unemployment, poverty, climate vulnerability, and social instability.

Why

Across Southern Nigeria:

  • 1 in 3 young people are either unemployed or underemployed

  • Over 60% of secondary school students lack basic digital skills

  • Climate change is increasingly affecting livelihoods, yet climate education remains absent in most public schools

  • Girls and vulnerable learners are disproportionately affected by dropout and low learning outcomes.

These challenges are interconnected and cannot be solved by access alone.

Our  Solution: Education That Delivers Measurable Outcomes

Forward Africa delivers integrated, community-based education programmes designed with clear targets, timelines, and outcomes.

By 2030, our Education Programme will:

  • Reach 5,000+ children and youth in underserved communities

  • Improve school retention by at least 25% in partner schools

  • Equip 3,000 youth with employability, digital, and life skills

  • Establish climate and sustainability education initiatives in 20+ schools

  • Train and support 200 educators and community facilitators
